Dangerously hot temperatures are hitting eastern Canada this week. And as the thermostat rises, so do the risks to one’s health. Medical officials say responding to the signs of heat distress quickly is critical, especially for children and seniors, who are more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat. "We know that it can be in the order of half an hour. Minutes to the first hour is enough to cause heat-related illness in mostly anybody with a heat dome," said emergency room physician Dr. Alia Dharmasi.
