Helicopter battles raging Turkey wildfire | ABS-CBN News

Firefighters battled a large wildfire in Turkey's Izmir district on Thursday, dropping water from a helicopter as the blaze burnt large swathes of land. A dramatic video published by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on Thursday showed the view from a helicopter flying over the raging wildfire at night time in the municipalities of Gaziemir and Buca in the Izmir district. Budget air carrier Pegasus said earlier said a wildfire broke out in a forested area near Izmir airport and forced the airport to shut down and divert flights to nearby cities. Pegasus said the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport had been closed temporarily and its inbound flights were diverted to and landed at Bodrum Airport, in a statement on social media platform X.
