As much as 14.6 million, or nearly 70 percent of the trips, were made by individuals travelling between Hengqin and China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) for employment, education or just as residents of the Hong Kong and Macao SARs. On November 21, the annual passenger traffic of Hengqin Port surpassed 20 million for the first time since its opening in August 2020.
