Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham has reacted to reports the Albanese government may be looking at making changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax policy, accusing them of “saying one thing” but “looking at doing another”. The federal government could be exploring its options ahead of possible changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax. An anonymous government source says Labor has sought advice from Treasury on the possible changes which it could take to the next election. “Here we go again would be the simple response,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia. “The Albanese Labor government saying one thing on tax policy but looking at doing another.”
