Hidden cameras and internal documents reveal how unqualified truckers are getting on our highways. Trucking is the lifeline of Canada's economy, and as the country faces a shortage of drivers, Marketplace uncovers shocking details about how some new recruits are finding their way onto our roads, including through bribes, forged documents and a failure of oversight and enforcement. Following the publication of our investigation Ontario's Ministry of Transportation provided an additional statement to Marketplace. Referring to their relationship with SERCO, who operates Ontario's DriveTest centres, they said, "If SERCO is unable to control fraud in the programs it administers, we will re-evaluate the contract with them. We expect full accountability from all partners, and failure to meet our standards will have severe consequences." 00:00 - Hidden cameras: School offering shortcuts 06:16 - This driving examiner won’t stay silent anymore 10:12 - One of Canada’s most dangerous roads 13:34 - Testing a cutting-edge driving simulator 18:02 - Why aren’t governments making things safer? #Marketplace #Investigation »»» Subscribe to CBC News to watch more videos: http://bit.ly/1RreYWS Connect with CBC News Online: For breaking news, video, audio and in-depth coverage: http://bit.ly/1Z0m6iX Follow CBC News on TikTok: https://bit.ly/3TnHioe Follow CBC News on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1sA5P9H Find CBC News on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1WjG36m Follow CBC News on Instagram: http://bit.ly/1Z0iE7O Subscribe to CBC News on Snapchat: https://bit.ly/3leaWsr Download the CBC News app for iOS: http://apple.co/25mpsUz Download the CBC News app for Android: http://bit.ly/1XxuozZ »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» For more than 80 years, CBC News has been the source Canadians turn to, to keep them informed about their communities, their country and their world.
