There is high demand among Barbadians for the General Nursing Programme on offer by the Barbados Community College. Principal, Annette Alleyne says the progammes in the Division of Health Sciences are among the most in demand across the BCC. She says the BCC would like to accept a larger cohort but is mindful of the need to deliver quality education and training to those who take the courses. She extended congratulations to the outstanding students in the Division of Health Sciences who were awarded prizes and pins during a ceremony at the Erdiston Teachers Training College. Among the graduates were cohorts from the Environmental Health Inspection Programme and the Community Health Nursing Programme - the first set of graduates in about a decade from the two programmes. According to Ms. Alleyne, the BCC takes pride in providing Barbados and the region with some of the best trained personnel in the health sector. She says Barbados can not afford to have a shortage of health care professionals.
