The rich history documenting the migration of East Indians to Barbados more than a century ago is now much better preserved. The Bengal to Barbados Foundation Inc. launched its digital project at the Walled Garden of the Barbados Museum last evening. The project showcases the histories, legacies and intergenerational experiences of East Indian migration to the island. Minister in the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for Culture, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight says the project is in keeping with Government's push to ensure stories of the past are preserved through digitisation for future generations. In a video recording, High Commissioner of India to Barbados His Excellency Dr. Shankar Balachandran committed financial assistance to the project to ensure its continuity. He says it is important given the contribution of East Indians over the years.
