Canada’s Minister of Health Mark Holland mocked Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre’s political slogans during question period on Tuesday, referencing the Conservative Party’s commonly used phrases of “axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget and stop the crime.” “Maybe I can speak in a language the Leader of the Opposition will understand: They're going to cut the dental. They're going to axe the pharmacare. They're going to break the health system and they're going to destroy childcare,” Holland said. “At some point, he's going to have to look in the eyes of seniors and tell them what he's going to do to dental care.” Poilievre responded by saying that Holland has become “unglued” and “very rattled” at the prospect of an upcoming Canadian election, describing Holland as “waving his hands around.” Poilievre added that “it's desperate to push a government takeover that will shut down people's private drug plans and ban them from having access to their medical plans.” NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh later said the Liberals were “too weak” to stand up to provincial Premiers Doug Ford and Danielle Smith, accusing the federal government of “letting Conservatives” privatize the health-care system. Holland snapped back to say Singh was “all about politics” and that he “ran away” from standing up for health.
