“It was chaos.” Dozens of leaf-peepers and tourists had to be rescued in Franconia, New Hampshire over the weekend after a rush of people visited over the holiday weekend. Law enforcement officials said the crowds created unsafe conditions at the height of foliage season. The people rescued will be getting a bill in the mail from New Hampshire Fish and Game.
