Households need ‘a lot more’ than a rate cut to feel ‘better off’

Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor says Australians will need “a lot more” than a rate cut to feel better off under the Albanese government. Australians were given no relief on Tuesday after the RBA left the cash rate on hold at 4.35 per cent during its final meeting of 2024. “Anthony Albanese promised that people would be better off under Labor,” Mr Taylor told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood. “We already know that household disposable incomes are down over 8 per cent since Labor came to power; that’s the biggest drop in history.”
