U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has threatened tariffs of 25 per cent on all goods entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico - but it's not the first time such tariffs have been imposed. In 2018, during Trump's first term, the U.S. placed tariffs on steel and aluminum products, citing delays in talks over the new NAFTA trade deal. Canada retaliated by levying tariffs on U.S.-made steel and aluminum, but also several other products that entered from south of the border.
