How hot could the Earth get? AI used to predict peak warming in new study
With the help of artificial intelligence, researchers at Stanford University have found that it’s unlikely we’ll be able to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The study predicts more heat records will be shattered in the year’s ahead – and suggests that even if current goals are met, there is a 50 per cent chance global warming will exceed 2 degrees Celsius. Global’s Amandalina Letterio talks with climate expert Noah Diffenbaugh about the study’s troubling findings, and what they mean for the climate fight ahead.
