Huge meteor may have helped early life on Earth thrive, research finds

Scientists have long understood how an asteroid with a diameter of more than 10 km struct Earth 65 million years ago, leading to the extinction of dinosaurs. There is now also evidence of a meteor four times the size of Mount Everest crashing into Earth more than three billion years ago, creating a catastrophic tsunami and boiling the oceans.
