‘Hugely important for the King’: Charles wanted to visit Australia ‘as soon as possible’

The real intention of King Charles since his coronation was “to get to Australia as soon as possible”, says The Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers. “The visit to Australia is hugely important for the King,” Mr Myers told Sky News Australia. “In fact, he wanted to get out there as soon as possible after the late Queen’s passing. “He really wanted to hit the ground running in the infancy of his reign, and it hasn’t really been possible – there’s the politics of government about where the government of the day wants you to go – he had to go to France and Germany. “Then, of course, he’s had some real serious health problems over the last few months.”
