Hundreds of Israel supporters in Berlin protest against Hamas

Hundreds of protesters rallied in Berlin on Sunday (October 6) under the slogan "United against the crimes of Hamas against Israelis and Palestinians". Speaking at the protest, Yehuda Teichtal, Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Berlin, commemorated the lives lost during the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and called for the release of the hostages still in captivity. The protest began at the Brandenburg Gate and made its way to the nearby Bebelplatz square, the site of the first Nazi book burnings in 1933. According to Berlin police, around 500 people took part in the protest. In a video message, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German government was continuing to call for a ceasefire to protect civilians in Gaza and to free the Israeli hostages. Scholz also said that people of the Jewish faith should not have to live in fear and terror in Germany, adding that Jews in the country deserve the full solidarity of the state and of all decent people.
