iIGG report - Registers an increase of complaints from the general public on corruption

The Inspector General of Government has continued to register increased complaints from the general public relating to abuse of public funds. The IGG Beti Kamya reveals an increase from 1068 complains in the period of July-December 2022 to 1657 in the period between January to June 2024. Kamya reveals that over 5000 cases are up for investigations by the IGG. This is as the office of the Inspectorate OF Government handed over the Bi-annual report to Parliament which was received by the speaker Annet Anita Among. The report includes of period of July-December 2023 and January-June 2024. Beti Kamya asserts that the IGG has ordered for the recovery of about 58 billion shillings in this period and also recovered billions of assets. In order to enhance operations, Kamya urged the speaker to consider the increasing the budget of the IG in order to save the country from losing trillions due to corruption. The IGG Kamya also revealed how corruption id eating up the recruitment exercise of public servants. The IGG cited a 45 billion inadequacy of completing the Headquarters and about 10 million US Dollars to improve the digital services in the office of the IG.
