REA Group Economist Anne Flaherty says the high immigration numbers are one of the “key factors” driving up Australia’s property market. Ms Flaherty told Sky news Australia that rent is particularly growing as a result of immigration due to newcomers being “more likely to be renters”. “What we’ve also seen is that the number of new homes we’re building has far fallen short.”
