IMPACT OF THE YOUTHS IN UGANDA'S OIL AND GAS SECTOR

Youths in oil and gas. With government referring to the oil and gas sector as the future for Uganda, Youths have been encouraged to embrace the sector to fully close the gaps associated with unemployment and poverty. At a recent conference held at Makerere University, experts highlighted the potential of the energy sector to facilitate mineral development. They emphasized the importance of equipping the youth with the necessary skills for extracting these valuable resources. NJ Ayuk, Director of African Energy Chambers said that they believe that by tapping into the energy sector, the country can create substantial opportunities for young people as the sector holds immense potential for economic growth and job creation. Currently, more than ten thousand youth are directly employed in the gas and energy sector believing that With the discovery of more minerals, there will be even more opportunities for skilled youth to find employment. The conference served as a platform for students to gain insights into the sector and understand the skills required to succeed.
