‘Increased’ chance of RBA raising interest rates

REA Group Senior Economist Eleanor Creagh says the risk of an interest rate rise before the end of the year has “increased”. Economists believe there is a 50 per cent chance of a recession if the Reserve Bank is forced to raise interest rates. There is a 40 per cent chance interest rates may be hiked in August after monthly inflation came in above market expectations at four per cent.
