Increased surf activity along western coastlines

Red flags dotted beaches around Barbados today, as rough seas impacted the island. A statement from the Met Office says a frontal system affecting the region has resulted in an increase in surf activity along western coastlines. It has advised sea bathers and other users of the sea to exercise caution and recommends using beaches with an on-duty lifeguard. The activity is expected to persist over the weekend and into early next week. When a CBC team visited Folkestone Beach in St. James, most people opted to stay out of the water although a few did venture in.
