India's election commission said a total of 642 million voters cast their ballots in the six-week long polls that ended on Saturday. The seven-phase election began on 19 April, and was held during a prolonged heatwave, with temperatures soaring past 50°C in some parts of the country. India is preparing to tally the votes tomorrow. Exit polls have pointed to a landslide victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is projected to win more seats than what it secured in the previous election. Neha Poonia reports from New Delhi.
