Indian Prime Minister Modi’s foreign policy will feature continuity and momentum: Analyst
India's core foreign policy interests are unlikely to change much, says fellow at the National University of Singapore's Institute of South Asian Studies Dr Karthik Nachiappan. Speaking to CNA’s Asia First following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election victory, Dr Nachiappan says the focus will remain on key strategic partners like the United States, Japan, Australia, and the European Union. He adds that the use of diplomacy to support India's growth and managing security concerns will also continue. India’s foreign policy will be characterised by continuity, but also some momentum over the next few years, he says.
