Indranee Rajah on Singapore's declining fertility rate, encouraging couples to have children

Singapore's total fertility rate has reached a new historic low of 0.97. This is the first time it has slipped below one. Singapore is facing the twin demographic challenges of an ageing population and a low fertility rate. Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, discussed with CNA the long-term implications of Singapore's low fertility rate. She also outlined what the government is doing to encourage more Singaporean couples to have children.
