Investigating a bogus food sanitizer that’s profiting off a child’s illness | Marketplace
Lucas Parker was permanently brain damaged after eating lettuce contaminated with E. coli in 2018. Now, a bogus product that claims to remove everything from pesticides to bacteria, including E. coli, from your food is exploiting Lucas’s story for profit. We test one of the devices in a lab and discover not only is the product we bought no more effective than tap water — it's outright dangerous. And one of the faces promoting that machine is an actor from Fiverr, an online marketplace for freelance services, who is willing to dress up like a doctor to make recommendations.
