Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will make his international debut at this week's ASEAN Summit in Laos, as he prepares for a snap election later this month. He will attend the ASEAN-Japan Summit on Thursday and return to Tokyo early on Saturday. CNA's Michiyo Ishida has more.
