Israel has confirmed it was behind the assassination of former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran earlier this year. Haniyeh had been visiting Tehran on an official visit when his residence was hit by an air strike, killing both him and his bodyguard. Defence Minister Israel Katz made the admission as he pledged to “decapitate” the leadership of Yemen's Houthi rebels. "Just as we did with Haniyeh, [Yahya] Sinwar, and [Hassan] Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza, and Lebanon, we will do so in Hodeida and Sanaa," Mr Katz said.
