Military analyst Simon Diggins says one million people are "trapped" in Rafah, a city on Gaza's southern border with Egypt, and could be in "grave danger" ahead of an expected Israeli ground offensive. Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed 31 Palestinians in Rafah this morning, just hours after Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered the area to be evacuated. Over half of Gaza's displaced population are sheltering in the neighbourhood, but Israel says there are also four Hamas battalions there, which it intends to destroy.
