Israel-Hamas War: UN stops short of calling for a ceasefire in Gaza

A United Nations Security Council vote on a bid to create "conditions for sustainable cessation of hostilities,” and on speeding up delivery of aid to Gaza has been passed. The resolution does not call for a suspension of hostilities. The US and Israel oppose a ceasefire because they believe it would only benefit Hamas.
