A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has come into effect in Lebanon after 14 months of fighting. It began at 04:00 local time (02:00 GMT) on Wednesday, putting an at-least temporary end to the conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed armed group. US President Joe Biden said the ceasefire aimed to be a "permanent cessation of hostilities". Thousands of Lebanese civilians have started returning to their homes in the south of the country, but Israel has warned that it is not yet safe to return to certain areas.
