Israel ramps up assault on Lebanon on anniversary of Oct. 7 attack

As Israel marks the sombre anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack, the military is intensifying its barrage of southern Lebanon. Israel has steadily increased the scale of its offensive since last week, with the military issuing an urgent warning Monday for people to stay away from Lebanon’s southern coast ahead of operations there. On Monday, the Israeli military said it had hit more than 120 Hezbollah targets in under an hour, while Lebanon’s health ministry said at least 10 firefighters had been killed in an Israeli strike with more people buried under the rubble.
