Israel recovers 6 captive bodies in Gaza; analyst blames Netanyahu's stubbornness for their dea
the Israeli military has confirmed it's recovered the bodies of six captives from a tunnel in southern Gaza. The White House says one of them was an Israeli-American, Hersh Goldberg-Polin. They were found in a tunnel beneath Rafah. Hersh Goldberg-Polin's family confirmed his death in a statement. They have been among the most high-profile protesters, calling for the captives' release. US President Joe Biden released an emotional statement, vowing that Hamas leaders will be held accountable and pledging continued efforts to free the remaining captives. The Israeli military has issued a statement on X confirming that the bodies its forces retrieved from Gaza belonged to six captives. They are Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lubnov, 32, Almog Sarusi, 25, and Carmel Gat, 40. All of them except Gat were taken captive from the Nova music festival in southern Israel on October 7 and their bodies were found in an underground tunnel in Rafah, the military said. Menachem Klein is a professor of political science at the Bar-Ilan University. He says Netanyahu is to blame for the captives' deaths, because he has failed to agree on a ceasefire.
