Israel’s ‘upper hand’ is at the cost of ‘large numbers’ of civilian lives in Lebanon

Deakin University Global Islamic Politics Chair Professor Greg Barton says Israel has the “upper hand” in the conflict. Israel has launched a major round of airstrikes in Beirut, claiming to be targeting Hezbollah headquarters. “Israel appears to have the upper hand,” Mr Barton told Sky News Australia. “Mind you, we need to acknowledge this is at the consequence of very large numbers of civilian lives in Lebanon. “It’s a really tragic week for the people of Lebanon.”
