Israeli troops have entered Lebanon, in what the Israeli military calls a "limited, localised and targeted" ground operation against Hezbollah. The Israel Defense Forces say the targets inside southern Lebanon pose "an immediate threat to Israeli communities". Israeli air strikes have continued overnight with the IDF saying it hit Beirut, while officials in Lebanon say a building in a Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon was hit. On Monday, Hezbollah's deputy leader Naim Qassem said the group was ready for an Israeli ground offensive and that the battle "may be long". In Lebanon, officials say more than 1,000 people have been killed in the past two weeks, while up to a million may now be displaced.
