Israel sends more troops into Lebanon as ground offensive expands

Israel has expanded its ground invasion in Lebanon, sending more troops into the south. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday urged people in Lebanon to “free” their country of Hezbollah while also announcing that troops had killed Hashem Safieddine, the presumed successor to Hassan Nasrallah. This as Hezbollah fired another barrage of missiles into Israel as the group’s acting leader vowed to keep up the pressure that has forced tens of thousands of Israelis to flee their homes on the border.
