Israeli airstrike on central Beirut kills 7 Hezbollah-affiliated first responders

An Israeli airstrike on an apartment in central Beirut killed at least nine people, including seven Hezbollah-affiliated civilian first responders. Israel has been pounding areas of the country where the militant group has a strong presence since late September, but has rarely struck in the heart of the capital. The death toll in Lebanon has now climbed to around 1400 people. Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met yesterday with his security cabinet, reportedly considering a range of responses to Iran's missile barrage, including targeting Iran's oil rigs, its air defence systems and perhaps even Iran's coveted nuclear program.
