Jake Paul defeats Mike Tyson in 8-round boxing match: “Such an honour”

Jake Paul beat boxing legend Mike Tyson by unanimous decision, winning an intergenerational heavyweight battle on Friday night. The bout between the 27-year-old social media influencer-turned-prizefighter and the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion was streamed live on Netflix and played out in front of a sold-out crowd at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Fans were left largely disappointed as Tyson showed his age and was never able to generate any offence against his younger opponent, landing just 18 punches to Paul's 78. Tyson, one of the most fearsome heavyweight champions of all time during his heyday in the late 1980s and early 1990s, was in his first professional fight in nearly 20 years. After he was declared the winner, Paul said that it was “an honour” to fight the former champion, describing Tyson as a legend and icon. Tyson said that he knew his opponent was a good fighter and that he was “absolutely happy” with his own performance.
