This week on American Black Journal: A unique traveling art exhibit, “Frontline Prophet: James Baldwin,” created by Detroit artist Sabrina Nelson has made its way to The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. “American Black Journal” host Stephen Henderson talks with Nelson about her creative process, her deep connection to Baldwin’s work, and what she hopes visitors take away from the exhibit. Then, Marygrove Conservancy in Detroit is gearing up for its 2024 Campus Summer Fest. Henderson gets the event details from Turkessa Baldridge, Marygrove Conservancy Director of Programs & Engagement. Plus, kids are learning to cook nutritious meals in the Downtown Boxing Gym’s new commercial kitchen with a well-known Detroit chef, Molly Mitchell. BridgeDetroit’s Micah Walker teamed up with One Detroit’s Chris Jordan to talk with Mitchell and Downtown Boxing Gym Founder and CEO Khali Sweeney about the culinary arts program and how it fits into the gym’s mission.
