Japan govt donates 2,000 metric tonnes of rice for refugees
Japan has donated two thousand metric tonnes of rice worth 8.5 billion shillings to enable the World Food Programme to provide hot meals to 50,000 refugees arriving in Uganda. There are at least 1.5 million refugees in Uganda, the highest in any African country. Many of them are fleeing conflict in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Somalia, and more recently Sudan reaching the border by foot or by bus.
