JD Vance appointment part of a strategy to ‘lock in’ blue-collar support in swing states

International Democracy Union Deputy Chairman Brian Loughnane discusses former US president Donald Trump’s choice for running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance. “It’s been received incredibly well, I think one thing that has been happening across centre-right parties around the world … is that they are making more and more of a pitch to blue-collar workers,” Mr Loughnane told Sky News Australia. “I think it is part of a strategy to lock in blue-collar support in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, the swing states. “Rather than providing a contrast with Donald Trump, what it is doing is complimenting Donald Trump and Donald Trump’s message.”
