Jenin raids: Stripped, detained, and interrogated by Israeli army; Palestinian boys share trauma
Two Palestinian boys, 7-year-old Ibrahim and 13-year-old Omar, were arrested by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and detained for 12 hours under harsh conditions. Stripped to their underwear, beaten, and left bruised, they were interrogated before being released. Upon their return to the besieged Jenin refugee camp, they discovered their grandmother’s funeral—she had been shot by an Israeli sniper during the raid. Traumatised and withdrawn, the boys now struggle to process the ordeal. Their experience reflects a broader pattern: over 350 Palestinian minors are held in Israeli jails, with hundreds prosecuted annually. Since the start of 2025, 17 minors have been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, underscoring the generational trauma of occupation. Al Jazeera’s Barbara Angopa reports.
