Jereem Receives Funding Under Elite Athlete Assistance Programme

The Ministry of Sport and Community Development has announced that Olympian Jereem "The Dream" Richards has been presented a cheque of $187,500 by Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sport and Community Development, David Roberts. The funding has been awarded under the Elite Athlete Assistance Programme which is designed to assist athletes like Richards to cover cost of training, international competition fees, travel, and other essential expenses. On the announcement, Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis reaffirmed the Ministry’s support towards athletes and their development. The Minister went on to add that, "Jereem’s performance at the recent Paris 2024 Olympics Games and his subsequent Bronze medal at the Diamond League showed true grit and a determination to succeed.”
