Julian brings heavy rains, strong winds to Batanes | ABS-CBN News

Typhoon Julian lashed Batanes province with heavy rains and strong winds on Monday. During the typhoon’s initial onslaught, strong winds toppled trees and small shrubs. Power outages began on Sunday night and continued throughout the province. As early as Saturday, the Batanes provincial government had advised residents to dock their small boats in shelters or on dry land. Ivatans, the residents of Batanes, were also instructed to board up their windows and secure their roofs to prepare for the storm. Following the directive of Governor Marilou H. Cayco and the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), all classes in public and private schools and government office work were suspended from September 30, Monday to October 1,Tuesday.
