Kevin Rudd and Penny Wong to attend Donald Trump's inauguration

Foreign Minister Penny Wong says she is 'honoured' to be representing Australia, along with Ambassador Kevin Rudd, at Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration.  Minister Wong is expected to hold meetings with congressional leaders and several senior officials from the President-elect's administration.   In a statement, the Foreign Minister says the visit is an important opportunity to advance security and economic cooperation with Australia's 'closest global partner'.   Although the Prime Minister has not yet met the incoming president in person since his election win, he says he is optimistic about the Australia-US alliance after his phone call with Mr Trump.
