Khir Johari's book, 'The Food of Singapore Malays', wins NUS Singapore History Prize

A book showcasing the history and heritage of Singapore Malays through their cuisine has won the 2024 NUS Singapore History Prize. The award recognises publications with a lasting impact on how we understand Singapore's history. Author of the winning work, food historian Khir Johari, received the cash award of $50,000. He shared with CNA about what inspired him to use food as a gateway to trace the history and heritage of Singapore Malays.
