‘Kicked the can down the road’: Funding legislation passes US House of Representatives

Republican strategist John Jordan says the US House of Representatives has “kicked the can down the road” for a “couple of months” after it approved funding legislation just hours before a deadline that would see the government shutdown. Lawmakers passed the stopgap funding bill extending it until mid-March. “It will advance rapidly through the Senate and be signed by President Biden or whoever in the White House is controlling such things,” Mr Jordan told Sky News Australia. “Bear in mind, President Trump may have won the election, a majority in the Senate, a majority in the House, but they don’t have them yet. “Right now, the Democrats control two out of three – the White House, the Senate, and the Republicans control the House of Representatives. “It’s not surprising that this can was kicked down the road for another couple of months.”
