Kishida departs for US for first state visit by Japan leader in nine years

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is en route to the US and will meet President Joe Biden on Wednesday, before addressing a joint session of the US Congress a day later. His state visit to Washington is the first by a Japanese leader in nine years. From conflict to cooperation, and from adversaries to allies -- Japan's relations with the US have come a long way over the years. Michiyo Ishida walks us through some of the key milestones.
