LA Wildfires: Mexico dispatches firefighters to aid California
Mexico dispatched a team of firefighters to Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday to assist in combating the wildfires that have ravaged the area. Two planeloads of more than 70 firefighters, along with their equipment, landed at Los Angeles International Airport, according to local media, and were greeted by California Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom expressed gratitude for Mexico's support. "This is what friends do. This is what relationships are all about. Friends, they need to be there for one another. We want to be there for the people of Mexico in times of need and disasters,” Newsom said. The wildfires, which have claimed at least 11 lives and destroyed around 10,000 structures, continue to threaten Los Angeles County.
