U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is blaming California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the state's handling of out-of-control wildfires raging in greater Los Angeles. Officials from the first Trump administration have previously claimed that he initially refused to send relief for California’s 2018 wildfires “because of the state’s Democratic leanings.” As Jackson Proskow explains, now there are also fears Trump could withhold disaster aid when he returns to office.
