Shadow Climate Change and Energy Minister Ted O’Brien says the Albanese government “hadn’t done any modelling” when they set their target of a 43 per cent reduction in emissions by 2030. Opposition leader Peter Dutton says he will not quit the Paris Accord or give up on net zero. It is understood Mr Dutton's recent dismissal of the 2030 climate target was due to the goal being unachievable. “One of the criticisms we’ve had about Labor’s setting their target at 43 per cent is they hadn’t done any modelling,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News Australia. “Instinctively, my view is that unless you’ve done that degree of work, then you can’t just make these things up – this has a direct impact on Australians way of life, on their jobs.”
