Labor has ‘no plans’ to change negative gearing and capital gains tax

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese discusses whether the Labor government is exploring changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax policy ahead of the next election. The federal government could be exploring its options ahead of possible changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax. An anonymous government source says Labor has sought advice from Treasury on the possible changes which it could take to the next election. “We have no plans to touch or change negative gearing what we are concerned about the supply of housing,” Mr Albanese told Sky News Australia. “I’m not convinced it will make any difference that’s positive when it comes to supply.”
